Eine Masken-Performance von Tomoya KAWAMURA
In seiner Masken-Performance erzählt Tomoya KAWAMURA von jungen Kamikaze-Piloten, die während des Zweiten Weltkrieges in der südjapanischen Stadt Chiran ausgebildet wurden – und von der Frau, die sich vor ihren letzten Missionen um sie kümmerte. Inspiriert von Geschichten seines Großvaters zeigt KAWAMURA, wie nah Ideologie, Zweifel und Fürsorge oft beieinander liegen, und belebt eine Vergangenheit, die rund achtzig Jahre später beängstigend aktuell erscheint.

In his mask performance, Tomoya KAWAMURA tells a story about young kamikaze pilots who were trained in the southern Japanese town of Chiran during World War II – and about the woman who took care of them before their final missions. Inspired by the stories his grandfather told him, KAWAMURA demonstrates how closely ideology, doubt, and care often interact with one another. In doing so, he brings to life a past that seems alarmingly relevant around eighty years later.
